Biography

Miguel D. Acosta joined the Autonomous Vehicles Branch of the California Department of Motor Vehicles on August 31, 2018. Prior to this Executive Appointment, Miguel’s assignments included: Chief of Customer Service and Program Support of Registration Operations (ROD), Assistant Deputy Director of Field Operations (FOD) and Chief of the Justice and Government Liaison Branch within the Communication Programs Division (CPD) of the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Miguel believes in providing open communication, empowerment, training and development to staff to support and enable them to make independent, sound and effective decisions with an emphasis on quality customer service.

Miguel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, as well as a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Public Administration from the California State University, Sacramento. Miguel studied law at Lincoln Law School of Sacramento and is a graduate of the DMV Executive Leadership Academy.
